About

My paintings are about abstract memories in the landscape, of love , loss and desire. My process treads a fine line between control of the materials and allowing the unexpected to happen. The relationship between the viewer and painting is one of contemplation that forms a connection and brings something of themselves into the painting. They can view the image and deconstruct through their own experiences what lies behind the layers of brush strokes.
I use my photography to capture images of places I have travelled to and my home surroundings on the farm, I also find inspiration from books, music and poetry - I find Matisse's use of colour a huge influence.
